Apartment in Ramat Gan
The common opinion is that a good contemporary design equals – expensiveness.
Yaron Iftach Ben-Gera rejects this idea. The apartment presented here is a good example for it.
Yaron took on himself the redesigning of a 58 m2 apartment on a limited budget. A basic design decision has been guiding Yaron – make the low budget factor into an advantage and gain good high class design.
The use of ‘airy’ elements in the materials and colors, gives a larger space feeling despite it being relatively small. A mirror placed at the entrance, the bright color tones of the walls (white-grey) and the bright furniture with a touch of orange enhance it. This feeling is strengthened by the use of various materials: metal, glass, high quality plastic (transparent and opaque), kitchen tiles in half-tones of green, bright blue, grey and orange.
Yaron uses materials that communicate elegance and yet are not expensive: special flooring (60×120 cm. of granite-porcelain – also gives the feeling of a larger space), mixed lighting elements (exposed and hidden) and storage solutions adapted to the small space.
The minimalist furniture with its straight and open lines is custom made at a very attractive price: the upholstery is a leather imitation, the coffee table is made of high class Perspex, and the ‘hairy’ carpet is in colors of desert bright brown and creamy-white. The armchair is a reminder of the fifties retro style. All these elements complete the picture and give a sense of peacefulness – a niche to recover from the daily chaos of the outside world.
The newly designed apartment, with its touch of class, turns it into a space where one is happy to return to.
